Though DMWW has successfully supplied safe, abundant and affordable drinking water to central Iowans for over 100 years, the associated planning, production, distribution, monitoring and challenges presented by contaminated source water are not common knowledge among most citizens.

The William G. Stowe Citizen Water Academy is a free, four-session crash course about the history, use and management of water in the Central Iowa region. The mission of the Academy is to create a network of emerging leaders who are knowledgeable and engaged in water issues.  At the end, DMWW hopes Academy graduates will be empowered and armed with knowledge to educate others about water and have confidence to answer questions from family members, neighbors and co-workers.
